RICHARD MADDEN

JULY 2019

What’s new this month?

14 July 2019 – Photographs taken in Glasgow July 2019 relating to Richard’s Graduation Ceremony

Thursday 25 July 2019

Richard didn’t attend the Elton John bash in the South of France yesterday evening; Taron Egerton and girlfriend Emily did attend.

However there is a photograph which was posted on IG by his friend Jeremy Langmead, taken at The River Cafe in Hammersmith yesterday evening.  Pictured are close friends Cheryl Calegari, Jeremy himself (Mr Porter) and actor Douglas Booth (who appeared with Richard in the Boy George biopic Worried About The Boy).  I’m loving Richard’s new sunglasses.

There is a rumour that Richard did another photo-shoot with GQ today ... if so, it will be something to very much look forward to!!!

Shall we have a cartoon, or two ... I don’t know who produced these, but they are brilliant!

Despite the hot temperatures, I’ve not been suffering too much today ... although I am getting pretty hot slaving over a warm PC presently!  Or is that just my thinking about Richard making me feel hot?  LOL

I was working in an air-conditioned office from 08:15 this morning and didn’t venture out until leaving at 17:00.  However, there were serious issues on Thameslink trains, with not only the track affected but the overhead cables too.

Fortunately, a work colleague gave me a lift home ... in an air-conditioned car ... so I was able to bypass these travel problems. Phew!

But who knows what it will be like in the morning, when endeavouring to travel back into work using the train?

Don’t you just love this man and his raised eyebrows?  And that beautiful grey streak curling across his auburn hair!

And news that the Canary Islands will act as the backdrop for a number of scenes in the Eternals movie which is due to commence filming in September – I’ve updated my Eternals filmography page accordingly.

There were thunderstorms in my local area last night but I confess I didn’t hear anything at all ... I slept like a log despite the warm overnight temperatures!

Richard and Taron attended the Entertainment Weekly bash on Saturday evening, following the Marvel ‘reveal’ ... Taron had appeared at Comic-Con on Friday to publicise his new film: The Dark Crystal – Age of Resistance.

I bought a ticket to the 2020 Grand National today ... it’s an expensive time of the year!  All of my holidays pivot around my interests ... Cheltenham Festival, Aintree Festival and, this year, a trip to Glasgow to see Richard!!!

San Diego Comic-Con 20 July 2019 – Marvel Studios: Eternals

After 2 or 3 months of speculation, Richard Madden has been named officially as ‘Ikaris’ ... who he has jokingly called “the sexiest of the Eternals”!  And I won’t disagree with him!!!

And, if this exciting news isn’t enough to spoil us,  this movie-related publicity photo has been posted by Entertainment Weekly ...

Everyone in ‘Madden World’ has been spoilt this weekend ... as a second photograph from W magazine appeared on social media ... with a Comic-Con announcement still pending for overnight our time!!!

Thursday 18 July 2019

I thought I’d have a few quiet non-blogging days ... until, firstly, notification of a Richard Madden-related article in the Scots Magazine arrived ...

Followed shortly afterwards by this, from W Magazine ... OMG!!!

Anyway, I presume everything is still on schedule for an announcement involving Richard at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend ... Taron Egerton is due to attend the event tomorrow.

I managed to spend a short time on my cross-stitch project yesterday evening, which I’ve not touched since mid-June.  However, I then dozed off to sleep and woke up with pain in my pelvis.  I was diagnosed with Osteitis Pubis (inflammation of the joint at the front of the pelvis) last September following nine months in pain, and was given a cortisone injection in early October which worked wonders ... until the pain-killing effect began to wear off in June.  Although having suffered pain whilst walking for the past few weeks, yesterday was the first time I’ve experienced discomfort whilst sedentary since before I was diagnosed. L

I shall soldier on for the present ... whilst trying not to walk too fast, which is my ongoing issue.  I don’t take painkillers, or at least not since early 2014.  My solution to last evening’s pain was a hot water bottle – it works!

For years I loved walking ... then I hated walking when undiagnosed ... then I loved walking whilst the cortisone injection was killing any pain ... and now I hate walking once more.  Unfortunate really, as I need to walk at least two and a half miles every working day ... L

Wednesday 17 July 2019

This is news about the new Elton John AIDS Foundation Gala to be held in the South of France next Wednesday ... with Richard expected to attend:

And more ruminations regarding yesterday’s glaring omission of an Emmy nomination for Richard:

A huge disappointment today ... as Richard didn’t receive an Emmy nomination for his role in Bodyguard ... although Bodyguard did receive one for Best Drama Series and Jed Mercurio for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (episode 1) ...

Anyway, here are a number of photographs to lift the mood:

Here is a photograph from The Hollywood Reporter roundtable photo-call, although it was Emmy-related:

Delighted: This also came as Richard teased that a second series of Bodyguard was in the works, as he told Digital Spy showrunner Jed Mercurio was 'in talks' for a follow-up

So I guess I must now look forward to the weekend when, hopefully, there will be news of a role in the new Marvels Eternals movie!

Sunday 14 July 2019

My recent busy schedule caught up with me yesterday and I spent the day doing absolutely nothing! That’s the problem with being old and also working full-time I guess. L

However, today, I’ve been more productive and have uploaded the photos I took in Glasgow at the beginning of this month, see link to photo index above.

Richard has won an INOCA (International Online Cinema Awards) TV Award – Leading Actor in a Drama Series, for Bodyguard.

The Emmy nominations will be announced on Tuesday, so fingers crossed for a nomination for his role in Bodyguard too.

And today’s photograph is taken from Medici: Masters of Florence, in which Richard plays the role of Cosimo de’Medici.

Thursday 11 July 2019

I have some news today ...

Firstly, it is reported that the character Richard plays in the film 1917 is called Lieutenant Blake.

And, secondly, details of the Marvels Eternals film, in which the rumours suggest Richard will play Ikaris opposite Angelina Jolie’s Sersi, are due to be announced at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday 20 July (early Sunday our time).

I’m so looking forward to seeing Richard take a leading role once more ... especially if it involves a tight costume!!!  And with the additional bonus that he will be filming in the UK. J

In the meantime, here are more lovely photos of this wonderful man!  Don’t you just love the fact that the curls are back?

And I’ve almost finished drafting my Glasgow trip diary ...

Sunday 07 July 2019

Apologies for the lack of updates since last Monday ... but I have been to Glasgow to see Richard in connection with the Honorary Doctorate he received from his former Drama School, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, on Thursday!

I booked my hotel on the same day the news of his imminent Doctorate was announced, which I recall was 30 April ... and I would have gone regardless of the outcome of my Rocketman adventure.

Besides, he was bound to be in an especially good mood, on his home territory of Glasgow and very pleased to receive the Doctorate too!  Mind you he’s always in a good mood, unless he is having to deal with the paparazzi or intrusion into his private life by the gutter press ... basically, he’s just a very beautiful man!

And it was third time lucky for me too ... thanks to social media detective work by my friend Ruth, a fellow fan, who tipped me off whilst I just happened to be waiting in my hotel foyer!  The Premiere Inn was situated just two blocks from the Conservatoire, and a five minute walk away ... yeeeeeeeeessssssssss!!!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D-kvQsqXUAIsHJ1.jpg:large

I asked Richard to take the selfies ...

He was amused to find a photo of himself (my favourite Time 100 Gala one) as my screensaver!

And I appear to have placed my right arm around him and my left hand on his left arm too ...

well, sometimes, I just can’t help myself !!!

Our beautiful auburn, curly-haired, blue-eyed Elderslie lad!

I took many photographs on Thursday and this is the final and best one!!!

Obviously I now need to write my diary, having travelled up on Tuesday and returned yesterday, and upload the other photographs too, before looking forward to seeing Richard again in hopefully the not too distant future!

And almost finally, what appears to be a fairly obscure Midseason Awards – The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society 2nd Annual Midseason Awards, for which Richard was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Rocketman.

However, Jamie Bell won that category and Taron Egerton won Best Actor.  Well done to these two, it was well deserved.  Rocketman was runner-up in the Best Picture category.

I’ve now seen Rocketman four times ... having gone to see it in Glasgow too!  The film’s Director, Dexter Fletcher, has tweeted to confirm that the Honky Cat all singing all dancing version will appear on the DVD when it is released later this year!

Monday 01 July 2019

Richard didn’t attend Glastonbury, preferring to take a quiet break in southern Italy, away from paparazzi and social media intrusion ... well almost!

Taron did attend the Festival, for a brief period, before heading off to ACE Comic Con in Seattle!

Anyway, whilst it’s quiet, I will post three recent photographs ... how can anyone not simply adore this very beautiful man?
