Richard’s Next
Project is ‘Citadel’ Late last
year there was a rumour about Richard’s next project ... and today it has
been confirmed that he will star opposite Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the Russo brothers’
upcoming Amazon spy drama series, entitled Citadel. Here are a
number of links reporting this news: It is
evident from the reports that the main edition, as opposed to the franchises,
will be filmed in the US ... so Richard will be leaving our shores again soon,
which is the one sadness I have, as his career goes from strength to
strength. I guess
this project puts Bodyguard 2 in doubt, or at least the opportunity for
Richard to reprise his role as David Budd ... especially as the Americans
tend to film these productions one after another, with little break in
between. If Eternals is successful,
the next instalment would be filmed in 2023.
Also, an official
synopsis for Eternals has been released today:

Richard
was awake early again yesterday, in order to work out in the gym … he posted
a photo, on his IG stories, at 09:00am.
I feel his pain and I wish I could give him lots of hugs … Ikaris is
going to be a wonderful superhero; so handsome and so ripped!
My friend Ruth and I met up yesterday, in central
London … and we had two missions; both accomplished. Firstly, we wanted to find the uniform
Richard wore in 1917, which (according to a source on twitter) was on display
at Westfields in Shepherds Bush. We
found it outside the Vue cinema, on the third floor of the shopping centre,
along with that of Mark Strong’s character.

I just had to
touch Richard’s uniform ... the mannequin’s right arm hasn’t
been reattached yet! |

|
And, yes, we did touch his jacket and his
breeches … but not inappropriately in either instance. LOL. We’d taken
the scenic route to Shepherds Bush, in other words we’d walked some of the
way and returned to Leicester Square in the same manner, which included a
diversion to the Forbidden Planet shop in Shaftesbury Avenue. For the first time I’m beginning to feel my
age, sadly, and was tired after my exertions; there is one advantage,
however, as Odeon cinema tickets for those aged 60+, qualify for a small
discount!!! Having met
in Leicester Square at the start of the day, we’d already bought tickets for
the 14:30 showing of 1917 at the Odeon Luxe.
Having entered the foyer, and following our expedition to Westfields, I
guess we should not have been surprised to see two mannequins, wearing George
Mackay’s uniform and Dean-Charles Chapman’s uniform respectively …
The uniforms of Lance Corporals William
Schofield and Thomas Blake, worn by George Mackay and
Dean-Charles Chapman respectively Whilst we
were inside the Odeon, we believe we located the seat (B13, end of row) where
Richard sat during the 1917 Premiere; we didn’t manage to book it, because we
needed two seats and the one next door was already booked. Besides, that block of seats is the most
expensive within the auditorium, at £35.00 for a standard adult ticket! But we did book A9 and A10 close by … and
obviously made a point of photographing and touching it!!! Besides, at that price, not that many
people may have sat there since 04 December!
It was
actually the third time I’d seen the movie, having been to my local Odeon on
Saturday to see it also; I’d booked my Saturday outing shortly after
attending the December Premiere. The 25th
Annual Critics’ Choice Awards took place last night and there was more
success for 1917: Best
Director – Sam Mendes … he tied with Bong Joon Ho for Parasite! Best
Cinematography – Roger Deakins Best
Editing – Lee Smith Meanwhile
Andrew Scott, who plays Lieutenant Leslie in 1917, won the award for Best
Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, for Fleabag. Rocketman’s
“I’m Gonna Love Me Again” tied for first prize for Best Song And,
today, the Oscar nominees were announced, with 1917 featuring very strongly
again, with 10 nominations: Best
Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing,
Production Design, Original Score, Makeup and Hair, and Visual Effects There was
just one nomination for Rocketman, with “I’m Gonna Love Me Again” nominated
in the Original Song category. Sadly
there was no Best Actor nomination for Taron Egerton. And, finally, Gemma Chan (Sersi) and Kit
Harrington (Dane Whitman) were filming for Eternals last Friday; this is
reported to be upon London’s Hampstead Heath: |

The local
press in Oxford revealed that Eternals was filming at the Oxford University
Museum of Natural History yesterday (Wednesday):
Angelina
Jolie, Salma Hayek and Richard were reported to be on set: https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/18146097.marvel-film-shoots-scenes-oxfords-museum-natural-history/ This
location suggests there is an archaeologist featuring in the movie … but is
it Daniel Damian as in the original Jack Kirby comic story, or Dane Whitman
aka the Black Knight (played by Kit Harrington) who is also rumoured to be an
archaeologist? The Film
Bafta Award nominations were announced on Tuesday; 1917 has 9 nominations and
Rocketman 4 nominations: Best Film
Outstanding British Film
Best Director
Best Leading Actor
Best Original Score
Cinematography
Production Design
Makeup & Hair
Sound
Special Visual Effects
And, whilst on the subject of 1917 ... the movie
goes on general release tomorrow, Friday 10 January. |

Congratulations
to the Golden Globe
winners!!! There was brilliant news overnight, with Taron
Egerton winning a Golden Globe for the Best Performance by an Actor in a
Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, for Rocketman ... so both Richard and
Taron have now won a Golden Globe award. J Elton John and Bernie Taupin won a Golden Globe
for the Best Original Song – Motion Picture, with “I’m Going to Love Me
Again”. The Best Motion Picture – Drama award was won by
1917, and Sir Sam Mendes won the Best Director – Motion Picture award too! This is a list of all
the nominees and winners from the Golden Globes, with other successful Brits
too: https://www.goldenglobes.com/winners-nominees/2020/all Here is a link to
Taron’s full ‘thank you’ speech: https://twitter.com/i/status/1214030657107705856 And the full backstage
interview too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ3zNaMdFk4 Richard sent a message to Taron via Instagram, in response to a
photograph, prior to the awards ceremony:

have chosen photos taken by the same photographer too! |

I
understand that Richard’s 1917 wartime outfit is on display at Westfields
Shopping Centre ... although
the mannequin looks a little bit the worse for wear! But I cannot blame
anyone for wanting to fondle the uniform!!! |

Here is an extended featurette for 1917: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQfybDxplPw As a birthday treat from me to me, I went to see
the new Star Wars film yesterday ... it was definitely better than the eighth
film in the series, but it just felt like some of the personal relationships
were left unresolved. But maybe there
will be a number of new spin-off films? 1917 goes on general
release on Friday, so I’m going to see it again next weekend. J |
