The production filming of Citadel season 2
wrapped on 29 November, having been completed in record time. The cast and
crew worked tirelessly, starting early and finishing late each day, with
weekend filming taking place too. I also can’t help thinking that the speed of
production has something to do with the fact the Russo Brothers’ next project
is the first of two new Marvel Avengers movies, so they are in a hurry to
move on … Citadel always seems to be playing second-fiddle to other projects
they have on the go. Priyanka posted a video recorded
on the final day; the guy in the beige jacket (front right) is the
show-runner David Weil, and he is thanking everyone for their hard work.
Richard can be seen in the background, centre frame. The second picture shows Priyanka
with flowers presented on the final day … the interesting detail is Richard
and Stanley Tucci in the background exchanging a
hug. Richard and Stanley have become firm friends since working together on
Citadel season one. Richard hates saying goodbye to everyone at the end of a
production, having become emotionally attached to co-workers. Richard is mentioned a number of times in Stanley’s
book ‘What I Ate in One Year’, and
Stanley also mentioned him during the ‘in
conversation’ event I attended in London back in October. The
video and the photo can be found on Priyanka’s Instagram page. |

How long can you run … when there is nowhere to

already being teased with action filmed as part of season two: |

After a
number of weeks when both Stanley and Priyanka had
been caught by the paparazzi filming scenes, it was finally Richard’s turn on
Friday 15 November when filming on location in Bourne Wood near
Farnham in Surrey. Here are a
couple of those published photographs; when you see all of them in context,
Richard (Mason Kane/Kyle Conroy/new ID name) appears to be the hunted rather
than hunter. This is a set constructed within Bourne Wood. It was one of two winter-themed
sets constructed at this location, the other being a farmhouse, which is
where he appears to be above – although that will be the studio interior
thereof. |

Among known locations for the filming is Wrest Park in
Bedfordshire, which appears to be a Manticore base, with Stanley Tucci making
a bid to escape. Priyanka also visited Blenheim Palace to film and
Maidenhead, the latter according to a local newspaper, standing in for scenes
taking place in Italy. Stanley and Priyanka were also spotted filming in
Shoreditch in London, and Priyanka and new cast member Jack Reynor were seen
filming in Canary Wharf. There were also reports that scenes were shot at the
Aviator Hotel in Farnborough too. Bourne Wood Filming in Bourne Wood took place under cover of darkness
for the most part, making it impossible for anyone except locals who know the
terrain and foolhardy paparazzi to get a sneak peek when filming was taking
place. Bourne Wood is located at the western end of the North
Downs, around two miles from Farnham train station. Within the site, the
plateau and bowl as they are known, have been used as a location for filming
numerous movies and TV series, including scenes from Citadel season one. Many dog walkers, ramblers and joggers use the woods for
recreation, either heading in from the local area by foot or by car, there
being a small car park at the eastern perimeter of the site. The construction
teams, cast and crew, and trailers, reach the plateau via a single tarmac
road; all other routes are by foot only, mostly via steep hills where one has
to stop on a number of occasions to catch one’s breadth during the climb.
And, being a wood, there are exposed tree roots everywhere … basically, it’s
an accident waiting to happen for those of a less able disposition. The walk from the station
is strenuous, gradually uphill, then downhill to a valley stream, then uphill
and downhill again, before heading steeply uphill again to enter the woods … although,
by our fourth and final daylight visit, we’d found the most suitable and
least arduous route and knew the woods almost like a local!!! But not enough to risk life and limb …
although I shall always regret not staying until darkness fell on Thursday 14
November to possibly obtain a glimpse of that very rare, very beautiful and very
elusive creature, known as Richard Madden. |

So the filming is over and Richard has disappeared once
more, without my friend and I being able to catch even a glimpse of him in
real life … it’s now 1,145 days since we’ve seen him, which is 27,480 hours
and counting … or 163 weeks and 4 days and counting … and immense sadness
descends once more … There is currently no news of a new project for Richard,
although it does take a while for him to discover his own personality once
more, having lived with a fictional character for a few months. I just hope UK fans are included when planning the press
junket for Citadel season two, after the extreme disappointment experienced in
London in April 2023. Sadly London is tarnished, due to the proliferation of
professional autograph hunters/dealers and the paparazzi too, which many
actors including Richard are now wise to and avoid at all costs. It also
means dedicated fans, like my friend and I, have no chance whatsoever of
seeing him … |
